Johnny Cash - A Hundred Highways

American V: A Hundred Highways began recording in 2002, and took over eight months at Cashs home near Nashville and Rick Rubins Los Angeles studio to complete. During the recording process in Nashville, Johnny and Rick formed a routine normally regrouping in the morning when Cashs energy was at its highest for a couple of hours each day. Songs were typically brought to the table by Johnny or Rick after hearing or thinking of a song that would fit. Rubin, says I think this is as strong an album as Johnnys ever made The album was finished after Cashs passing, by long time engineer David Ferguson and previous American musicians, letting Cashs voice lead the way while building the tracks around what Johnny had previously recorded.
